Katie Duck has been teaching workshops internationally since the mid 70’s alongside her professional career as a performer and choreographer. She integrates her current research making each workshop completely unique, drawing from her experiences with live performance, music collaborations, and as director and choreographer. She has lead two companies over the past 30 years: GroupO, based in Italy, and Magpie Music Dance Company, based in the Netherlands.
Over the past 10 years her workshops have been titled “improvisation” in order to emphasize her view of theater as a live-time art form, reflective of how she executes her own professional performances.
Katie’s workshops are aimed toward all dance, performance and music artists. She does not aim to model a technique or style for how one conducts them selves in a live performance. Her work is relevant for any performance situation without discrimination for levels of experience or differing performance platforms.

A reminder for those registered for this Master Class:
The class will be held from 4-7pm at the North Park Theatre. Entrance will be through the west side stage door, from the parking lot. Directions will be posted at the box office.
Please wear clothing you can move comfortably in, preferably long pants for protection of knees and ankles, and socks or dance shoes. Layers might be in order as I’m not sure how warm or cold the theater will be.
Thank you for your interest in this visiting artist. With your support I’d like to invite more artists to town.
Following the workshop there will be the opportunity to leave feedback on your experience at the Stage 7 community forum, online. For those of you participating through the university dance programs, this is the perfect place for you to include your critical writing.
